Champagne is made with one of these 3 grape varieties: pinot noir, pinot meunier and chardonnay. This became a symbol of luxury because champagne was during a long time, reserved for celebrations of high-class people. It is also because of it rarity and its only one place of production that champagne became synonym of delicacy, prestige.
