If sales are expected each year of average consumers, this is not the case of large luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Dior, Chanel, Hermès.

A survey conducted by the magazine Challenges has indeed reveal that instead of selling unsold stock of past collections, some prestigious companies prefer to go burn those items now impossible to market. Rather than risk a devaluation of their image with discount, or find their products in parallel circuits, luxury brands often prefer to destroy their obsolete goods.
