When surrealism serves high fashion

When surrealism serves high fashion

In September 2018, for the occasion of the fashion week in Paris, the Schiaparelli house presents his first luxury ready-to-wear line named « Story # 1 » under the artistic direction called Bertrand Guyon. A collection that is clearly inspired by the emblematic works of the American painter and photographer Man Ray. Man Ray was an artist and an actor of Dadaism and Surrealism of the 20th century. Man ray was as well a great friend and collaborator of Elsa Schiaparelli, the founder of the brand. The house is created by Elsa Schiaparelli, a fashion designer who ran a fashion house in Paris from the 1930s to the 1950s. Voluntarily provocative and considered as avant-gardism, she is famous for using her shocking Rose in her collections. Today the collections are presented and sold in his salons-shop located in Place Vendôme. The house has its own concept, that of presenting collections around a story in connection with its history. The first chapter looks back at the beautiful adventure devoted to the links between the artist Man Ray and Elsa Schiaparelli, as well as the works of the artist. A collection articulated around black and white, silhouettes in red and pink, signature of the house. A collection which consists of pleated dresses, jacket-suits, coats, tuxedo, T-shirt, blouse, shirt.Concerning accessories, the house proposes jewelry, necklaces, brooches, glasses, bags evoking the work of Man Ray such as « the secret bag » a limited edition plays with Man Ray’s original art « observatory Time (the lovers) ».
