Of course we are used to appreciate casual-chic and the sporty-chic style, but sneakers on the runways of Haute Couture are an outrage for many. But what if the sneakers became a luxury item? Yes, it is now possible. Initially seen as urban footwear (and many other prejudices) sneakers finally arrives in the Luxury business.
Just forget brands such as Nike, Adidas and Puma and focus instead on more high-end brands such as Chanel, Dior, Kenzo, Giorgio Armani, Dolce Gabbana, Stella McCartney to Isabelle Marant.
Brands have understood this new sporty glam trend, with the top and most luxurious fashion houses not hesitating to get them marching down the catwalk. This is what Lagerfeld did during Paris Haute Couture week by using a pair of sneakers for every outfit. No heels, no boots, just sneakers and it’s not a joke. And a few days before two pairs of sneakers roamed also on the catwalk of Christian Dior. Now, comfy fashion is really happening.
Since sneakers were invited on the Haute Couture, they have acquired their nobility. Gone is the time when they were seen as less elegant than other shoes.
