The Slingback of Chanel, the mythical story of the bicolour shoes

For the autumn/winter season of fashion 2015/2016, Mister Karl LAGERFELD ‘recreated’ the Slingback shoes of Coco Chanel.

The Slingback was created in 1957 (long time ago and still in Fashion Show !). Since then, years after years, decades after decades, this mythic pair of shoes was modernized. Gabriel Chanel, or Coco, invente it for women to differentiate themselves from others. There is 2 colors : black and beige. These 2 colors allows the legs of women to be seen much longer than in ‘reality’.

Since 1983, when Karl Lagerfel became the artistic directior, the Slingback changed years after years, became more modern, with different forms. BUT, he always kept the same colors.

This year, the Deutsh fashion designer decided to go back in time, in 1957, with the original ones.

Thank you Gabriel, thank you Karl!
