Historical capital of fashion and haute couture, Paris has to face the new problems of the industry. Debates on the immediate sale of collections (the “see now / buy now”) and the mutations engendered by social networks are causing the old system to explode. In this uncertain context, the designers who parade in Paris concentrate more on background work and try to invent the luxury of tomorrow, fed on existing patrimonies, but less smooth, more nuanced, more alive. This is the direction taken by Maria Grazia Chiuri at Christian Dior. The Italian designer is the first woman to take control of the house after a long casting that had sparked the craziest rumors. Rihanna, Alber Elbaz, Kate Moss, Kris Van Assche (the designer of Dior Homme) and Pierpaolo Piccioli, his former working partner at Valentino, came to attend this great premiere at the Rodin Museum.
