It all started in 1952 in a mountain village close to Grenoble in France where René Ramillions and Andrè Vincent founded the company. The company was in first place only dedicated to sporting garments for mountaineering.
1954 in this year the first Moncler down jacket was made in 1954 and its outstanding technical performance made it an instant hit. In that year Moncler supplied the technical equipment for the Italian expedition to K2; in 1955 Moncler supplied the French expedition to Makalù and in 1968 Moncler became the official supplier of the French skiing team during the winter Olympics in Grenoble.
Started from the ‘80s Moncler garments became a “fashion phenomenon” with younger consumers.
In 1992 Pepper company picked up the brand, in 1998 they transferred it to Fin.Part S.p.A. This company was operating operated in the high-end clothing sector, and its aim was to create a reference point within the Italian luxury goods market.
In 1999 Remo Ruffini became part of the Fin.Part group with the role of Creative Director of Pepper, and began a process of repositioning the brand.
Nowadays Moncler is an active player on the luxury market, and one the main designers producing and distributing top-end clothing and accessories for women, men and children.
