High fashion, low fashion; luxury, mass market Alexander Wang does it all.
Alexander Wang born in December 26, 1983 in San Francisco, California started his empire at the age of 19.
Wang’s first steps into fashion began after he dropped out of the Parsons School of Design in 2004 to start his own label, to begin with creating a knitwear collection based on six unisex silhouettes. Wang was three-years a creative director of Balenciaga, now the designer his focus is on growing his own business.
With 26 stores worldwide and reported revenues of over $100 million in 2013, it’s one of the biggest of any young designer working today.
“We’re not luxury, we’re not mass, we’re not contemporary. But we allow ourselves to have a very varied price point range,” says the designer.
This means there is one customer and they build there capsule within one brand. Wang calls this strategy ‘’approachability to tiers’’ one brand, with a single visual identity, but with different levels serving different tiers of customers.
