The color orange in Hermès has a very special history. Actually, this color was not supposed to be the original one.
Hermès has always been attracted by the orange/bronze color. Related to its name, the Greek gods loved having the color of the sun, the fire, the power.
However, during the Occupation, the industries had a lack of colorants. The original packaging without added color is being orange for this time. Hopefully for the brand, the post-war period, also know as “the glorious thirty” loves warms and pops colors, such as… orange.
This color is going to stay in people’s mind, and the strategic direction decided not to change it.
