Marc Jacobs who was born April 9, 1963 is an American fashion designer. He is the head designer for Marc Jacobs, as well as Marc by Marc Jacobs, a diffusion line, with over 200 retail stores in 80 countries.
In March 2015, Marc Jacobs announced the end of the diffusion line Marc by Marc Jacobs in order to focus on the development of his main label Marc Jacobs and to target to more luxury oriented audience. In Summer 2013, there were 285 Marc Jacobs retail stores (including Marc by Marc Jacobs & Marc Jacobs Collection) in 60 countries. In 2013 December, the new Marc Jacobs flagship store opened in Shanghai.

He was the creative director of the French design house Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2014. In a new interview with Paper Magazine, Marc Jacobs reveals that it hasn’t been easy for him since leaving Louis Vuitton. In fact, Jacobs admitted that he has found it hard to even look at the collections released since his departure, saying “I had a hard time looking at it at first. I think I got pretty down and depressed.” Since leaving Vuitton, Jacobs has been focusing on growing his successful eponymous label.
