Asia-Pacific is a geographical group consisting of the Far East, the Indian subcontinent and Oceania. As a huge continent, Asia-Pacific is full of extraordinary experiences with paradisiacal landscapes, breathtaking natural and cultural sites. The most popular places are Bali in Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Malaysia, Vietnam. Malaysia is the most visited country in Asia and has even won the “world travel awards”. Luxury tourism in Asia-Pacific is an area that is expanding and a territory that is becoming increasingly popular. This phenomenon is essentially related to two factors. First of all, this phenomenon is due to the fact that there are more and more Asian millionaires thanks to the swelling of the fortune of the Chinese and the Indians. According to a study published in 2009 by the firms “Merrill Lynch Global wealth management” and « Capgemini”, the number of billionaires would have increased from 796 in 2008 to 1011 in 2009 and continues to increase. The highest concentration of these millionaires is in Japan. Emerging markets, including India and China, will continue to do so. Then, this phenomenon is explained in particular by the creation of the organization “International Luxury Travel Market” (ILTM) Asia Pacific is a big event where the suppliers of luxury travel experiences meet the buyers representing the fast growing and sought after market of luxury travelers from Asia Pacific. The first edition of ILTM Asia Pacific took place in Singapore, hosting 538 high-end travel agents, concierge companies and private travel designers. In this context, for the future, Asia-Pacific is expected to become the best location for luxury hotels.
