Longines is a Swiss watch brand created in 1832 by Auguste AGASSIZ. The Swatch group owns it. Nowadays, the brand wants to become more a ‘luxury brand’. Longines is known for its “Aviators” watches. Today, Longines sells sport watches (aeronautics, american sports, basketball, equestrian sports, gymnastics, tennis, skiing) and chronographs.
Longines provided timers used at the first modern Olympics in 1896. In 1899, a Longines watch went to the North Pole with Arctic explorer louis Amedee de Savoie. It was the first to use automatic timekeeping for the federal gymnastic at Basel in 1912. From 1885 to 1929, the brand won ten Grand Prix in Antwerp, Paris, Brussels, Paris, Bern, Milan, Genoa, Philadelphia and Barcelona.
