The history of Kenzo starts in Japan, at 1970. The founder of Kenzo is Kenzo Takada. He was born in Japan but moved to Paris in 1964 to start his fashion career. His fashion got famous because of the Japanese and Asian style. He started with handmade clothes for women, and in 1983 he started with fashion for men. In 1987 he launched his first children collection. In 1993 the brand was bought by LVMH.

What is the best sold item nowadays?
That is definitely the sweater with the big tiger on it, we sell the sweater in many colors for men, women and children. It has been the bestseller for like 10 years now.

What is the main image of Kenzo?
The main image of Kenzo is cool, bold, elegance, cheeky, spontaneous and accessible.

Do you see yourself as a top Luxury brand?
Kenzo is not the same as for example Gucci, Louis Vuitton or Chanel. But it is Luxury in another way. We are very proud to say that we are accessible Luxury. A lot of people see Kenzo as a Luxury brand, while it is more affordable that for example a sweater from Gucci. So yes, we are a Luxury brand, but on another level than other Luxury brands.

Which brand is the biggest competitor of Kenzo?
That is definitely Givenchy, yes. I see you are surprised. But we have exact the same target as Givenchy, which are young, confident people. They are also based in Paris. However, the collections of Givenchy are different. Kenzo is really colorful and Givenchy is less.
