Borned in 1957 in Gassin (Var area), Ines de Seignard de La Fressange is an emblematic character of French luxury industry. She is famous for her experience as a French mannequin in the 80’s but also because she has been the Chanel ambassador for many years. Ines de la Fressange is not only a famous mannequin; she is also a fashion designer, jewels and perfumes designer, businesswomen and fashion journalist for the magazine Marie-Claire.
Her career begins at the age of 17 as mannequin. She has been noticed by the journalists and nicknamed as “Le mannequin qui parle” because she was really spontaneous and liked to talk about fashion with professionals. At the age of 18, she appeared for the first time in famous photos by Oliviero Toscani for the Elle magazine and starts to work as a mannequin for Thierry Mugler and other popular designers. Is it from 1983 to 1989 that Karl Lagerfeld chooses her to become the ambassador of Chanel and it’s thanks to this experience that Ines de la Fressange will become a star of fashion (She is at this time the first mannequin to sign an exclusive contract for a house of Haute Couture). She is also a businesswoman who created her own brown “Ines de la Fressange” and has written her autobiography “Preofession Mannequin” published in 2002. In 2015 she is nominated for the Globes de Cristal in the category best fashion creator.
