History of the Maison Hennessy

Hennessy has been founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish officer at the service of the King of France. Today considered as the world wilde leader of Cognac, Hennessy became more and more famous when its creator started to conquer the american, market around 1794 and then, the australian, indian and asian markets. This international dimension will makes Hennessy one of the biggest exporters of the time.


Eight generations of the Hennessy family have succeeded at the head of the House to built and consolidate it. The fusion of Hennessy, the champagne Moët & Chandon and the maison Louis Vuitton has created the LVMH group 1987, a very important step in the history of the brand.


Today the cognac of the brand is distributed in nearly 130 countries and is the first french brand of wine and spirits in value in the world.
