Opened March 18, 1997 by Colette Rousseaux and his daughter Sarah Andelman, a graduate of the Ecole du Louvre and current artistic director of the shop, its concept is to be the meeting point between fashion, fragrance and design, music and publishing, photography, beauty and high technology. One can find all kinds of objects (up to a car) or exhibitions, with limited edition products and exclusive series.
The store, which covers 700 m2 on three levels, with a water bar (“water bar – restaurant”) in the basement, was designed by French architect Arnaud de Montigny, its interior changes every week, and the showcases. It employs a hundred people in 2012. Colette was completely renovated two years later. It operates in parallel an online sales site.
Periodically, the store is associated with brands like Chanel, in Paris, Gap, New York, or Comme des Garçons in Tokyo to create ephemeral stores.
