One of the strongest friendships of Christian Dior was the one that he had with the Spanish genius and painter, Salvador Dali.
The professional and personal relationship started in the 20’s, when Christian Dior was a galley owner and showed Dali’s pieces of art very often.
the 1929 crisis affected negatively to the art market and, in 1934, Dior had to close his gallery. However, in 1945 he took the art of Dali as the inspiration for his autumn/winter collection. Few years later, both genius worked together in a new project: fashion inspired in future. In This project, which took place in Brazil, was created the Dior’s iconic dress. The dress for 2045.
Decades after, Raf Simons, one of its artistic directors, made a tribute to Dali using his art as the pattern of one of its collections of 2013.
